To help you manage your team member’s continuous leave, here are tips and resources that you can use.
Emergency or unexpected leave
If a team member is unable to submit a leave request claim, or it is an emergency situation, leaders can initiate the process by calling The Hartford at (888) 277-4767 or submit online through The Hartford’s leave portal. The Hartford will then follow up with the team member and reach out to the provider.
Time approval
- If a team member’s leave is pending, please use the FMLA code in Kronos.
- If a team member’s leave sounds like family and medical leave, act like that in Kronos and provide as much information as possible. However, do not tell a team member that their leave has been approved until notification is received from The Hartford.
- If a team member is exempt and on salary, the team member’s leader will have to respond to the Kronos email that the team member is on continuous leave.
- Once a team member’s leave is approved, please use the FMLA code in Kronos.
Accommodations
If a team member needs accommodations or has restrictions when they return from leave, please contact Human Resources at myhr.helpdesk@carle.com or 217-902-5300 to discuss options.
Team member communications
- Before a team member goes on leave, please encourage them to keep you updated on the status of their leave and any accommodations that they will need when they return.
- Leaders have access to their team member’s claim online by creating a log-in at: https://abilityadvantage.thehartford.com/
- For non-emergency medical leaves, the team member is required to provide documentation as confirmation of their medical condition on the first day of leave. The Hartford will not make a final determination on the team member’s claim until this documentation is received.
