Public Service Loan Student Forgiveness

Updated on June 6th, 2024

Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) is a program that allows qualifying federal student loans to be forgiven after 120 qualifying payments while working for a qualifying public service employer, such as Carle Health.

As of April 2, the U.S. Department of Education announced that the review and approval of PSLF form will transition from MOHELA to the Department of Education starting July 1, 2024.

A processing pause began on May 1, 2024, for the PSLF as the U.S. Department of Education updates and streamlines their systems for a better user experience. This pause will last through July 1.

Team members can continue to submit PSLF forms during this pause to MyHR.HelpDesk@carle.com. HR will then send the form back to the team members who can then submit it to: U.S. Department of Education, P.O. Box 300010, Greenville, TX 75403 or fax to (540) 212-2415.

PSLF forms will be processed by the Department of Education when the update is complete after July 1. Team members should anticipate significant delays of 60-90 days in addition to the 90-120 days for PSLF form review. This means that team members who submit PSLF forms in June, may not see any updates to their PSLF qualifying payment count until November.
