To help you manage your team member’s intermittent leave, here are tips and resources that you can use.
Reporting leave
- If a team member is unable to submit a leave request claim, or it is an emergency situation, leaders can initiate the process by calling The Hartford at (888) 277-4767 or submit online through The Hartford’s leave portal. The Hartford will then follow up with the team member and reach out to the doctor.
- If a team member fails to call the Hartford within two business days, the absence will not be approved and will be subject to the attendance policy.
- Please keep in mind that each absence is reviewed and approved by your Hartford Analyst.
Time approval
- For non-exempt team members:
- If a team member’s leave is pending, please put use the FMLA code in Kronos.
- If a team member’s leave sounds like family and medical leave, act like that in Kronos and provide as much information as possible. However, do not tell a team member that their leave has been approved until notification is received from The Hartford.
- Once a team member’s leave is approved, please use the FMLA code in Kronos.
- If a team member is exempt and on salary, the team member’s leader may have to respond to the Kronos email that the employee is on continuous leave.
