Where to go for care?

Updated on July 14th, 2022

There are a multitude of choices when it comes to care as a member of the Carle Employee Health Plan.

Where you go to seek care depends on the situation and location.

  • Primary Care Provider – A primary care provider (PCP) manages the day-to-day health needs and can assist with getting advanced care when needed. Your PCP can provide scheduled care for non-urgent conditions and provide routine preventative care.
  • Convenient Care – These clinics provide same-day, walk-in care for common and acute health issues including, but not limited to: allergies, asthma, cold/flu, ear aches, minor cuts, sore throats, and minor infections.
  • Convenient Care+ - Provides the same care as Convenient Care locations, plus more on-site testing capabilities.  Along with the common health issues see in Convenient Care, Convenient Care+ plus locations can also treat high fevers, injuries that require x-rays, kidney stones, and stomach pain.
  • Virtual Visits – For urgent, minor health issues, members can access virtual visits. These visits are completed through smart phone or personal computer capabilities; making them convenient to be done anywhere. Common conditions qualifying for a virtual visit include allergies, cold/flu, sore throat, depression/anxiety, pink eye, rash, etc.
  • Emergency Department – You should go to the emergency room for issues such as chest pain, difficulty breathing, a severe injury with bleeding, stroke symptoms, severe pain, etc.
