Long Term Disability

The Long-Term Disability Insurance plan (administered by The Hartford) replaces a percentage of wages when employees cannot work due to a nonwork-related illness or injury. 

To be eligible, you must complete 6 months of employment and work 30 hours or more a week.  

Long-Term Disability (LTD) is a continuation of the Carle paid Short-Term Disability benefit. Team members that are off work due to an illness or injury lasting longer than 180 days will transition to LTD on the 181st day. This benefit provides 50% of your income.

COVERAGE

  • No cost for participants (Employer-paid upon eligibility)
  • Pays up to 50% of pre-disability earnings per month (offset by Social Security, Worker's Compensation, etc.)
  • Benefits are taxable
  • 180 day elimination period - payments begin 181st day of approved disability
  • 12 month pre-existing exclusions
  • Employment with Carle will end if approved for Long-Term Disability starting after 180 days
